Homophobia

The problem with homophobia is enormous in Poland. Many people are very homophobic, which is exemplified by the Catholic religion and their intolerance, in that they are teaching their children to behave in the same way. During summer 2020, the President stated that being gay is an ideology. This hurt many people and was entirely ignorant and not backed up by any research whatsoever. Religion plays a huge part in Polish society and this is where homophobia starts. For very religious people, the only possible way for a relationship to exist is between a man and woman. Many gay people have committed suicide or moved to other countries, that are much more tolerant, for instance, Holland or Germany. The biggest problem with homophobia is that it happens from an early age in schools and it is well documented that at least three children took their own lives, because others did not accept their sexual orientation.
