In Poland, a compromise about the Abortion law was made between 1993-1997. It was not perfect and in many cases was problematic for some women. Women with a foetus with possible birth defects could have an abortion, whilst pregnant women who had been raped could not. In October 2020 the Polish government made it an even a bigger problem by trying to ban abortion completely, irrespective of any mitigating reason. It was held off for some time, because of people protesting, but after 6 months the law was implemented. It is especially traumatic for all women who are not wealthy, because if they would become accidentally pregnant, they could not go abroad for an abortion, as it would be too expensive.
